As a former engineer, I know environmental assessments are to consider all options equally and not a simple Yes/No. However, TCE’s position as 50% owners of Bruce Power, with the capital to kickstart megaprojects, with influencers to those in power, is a wake-up call that the Ontario government has not independently charted a pro-active energy plan and that we everyday people have nothing to gain.

1. The savegeorgianbay.ca website highlights several novel technologies already adopted.
2. The do-nothing option of upholding the status quo should consider the future Ontario context, possible Hydro Quebec surplus, the increased adoption of household micro-generation, EV battery storage technology, smart meters, etc.
3. TCE’s proposal legitimates the privatization of DND lands and is exempt from the Niagara Escarpment Plan, Grey Sauble Conservation, and other local government regulation and taxation. Permission to tap into Georgian Bay waters like an ‘open wound’ is for Saugeen Ojibwe Nation to decide.
Save Georgian Bay Association
The Georgian Bay team is working to protect our region from the negative impact of T.C. Energy’s proposed hydroelectric pumped storage project. Our focus is to raise awareness in South Georgian Bay and all Ontarian about an irreplaceable natural resources and a national treasure. It’s a gem, a marginalized treasure to be preserved as-is for our children and grandchildren.
Save The Bay Polar Dip on February 25, 2023.
We are challenging the brave people of our region to jump into our pristine (and frigid) Georgian Bay. This is a great way to get involved and contribute to a well-intentioned cause affecting all of us. All funds raised go towards supporting the work that the volunteers at Save Georgian Bay do in an effort to protect our national treasure and the communities and wildlife who rely on it.
